RASTAFARI VISIONS HOME

We cannot continue to export cheap raw materials.

We have instructed platinum miners in Zimbabwe to refine ore and to add value before export. They have two years to set up the necessary refineries before the ban on export of ore comes into effect.

Many are fearful that such bold action will scare away investors. If it does scare them away then that is preferable, we would rather those minerals remain in the ground to benefit our children who will have extraction capacity than to be dug up and exhausted without benefiting our people. Our policies must never be guided by fear of retribution, only by what is right and proper.

Africa must introduce such measures in concert, across the entire continent, and set a standard that no mineral will be exported raw.

The challenge is some are amongst us are easily bribed and sacrifice national benefit for personal gain.
